Leadership development works best when it feels like something — not something you sit through, but something you do. Something that challenges you, makes you think, and sometimes makes you uncomfortable in exactly the right way.
The LeaderBoard is a facilitated leadership board game built by LCA International. It turns your leadership training into a living, breathing experience that participants actually remember.
Teams navigate a 45-space board across three escalating zones — Foundation, Application, and Crucible — each one raising the stakes and the complexity of leadership decisions required.
Along the way, every roll of the dice lands your team in a real challenge:
Facilitators select the audience level before the game begins — Emerging Leaders, Mid-Level Managers, or Senior Leaders — and the game adapts. Scenarios, question depth, and debrief intensity shift to meet your cohort where they are.
Points are earned through a structured rubric across four dimensions: Self-Awareness, Leadership Judgment, Practicality, and Stakeholder Awareness. No arbitrary calls. No subjective winners. Just clear, consistent criteria that spark real conversation about what good leadership looks like.
Every team enters with one Peer Recognition Token. When someone in the debrief shows genuine courage, names what no one else will, or demonstrates exactly the kind of leader we all want to follow — a peer awards them the token. Five bonus points, yes. But more than that: a moment that people remember walking out.
The game doesn’t end with the winner. Every participant receives a personal reflection card — their score, their peer recognition story, and most importantly: one leadership intention they commit to carrying back into their work. The bridge between the game table and the real world.
Run The LeaderBoard as a full competition with individual rankings, or toggle on Collaborative Mode — where the entire group works toward a shared point target. Both modes deliver the same rich facilitation experience; the frame shifts depending on your organizational culture.
